I recently did some new highly textured faceless works on rustic wooden trinket boxes.
There’s something magical about original paintings inlaid on a wooden box… makes you want to open these art works, step inside, into the secrets within the trinket box. A rather Narnia thing to do. Coming In For A Landing was inspired by Cable Hang Gliding in Tasmania (another ticked box on my bucket list) and flying dreams.
Autumn was inspired by the craziness of Melbourne’s weather, and the transitional nature of autumn, that like development, opportunity, choices, identification, it can suddenly turn a corner, take a different direction, a different path.
Painting The Town has the characters from another painting (Tantrum) who appear again… the sister and her little brother… probably from my experience of having been that sister, and she’s musing with nature, he’s armed with a giant paintbrush, a paintbrush warrior, pulling at her as though they have work to do, all these trees and their leaves to bring color to, the colors of nature, the dichotomy of appreciating nature as it is or working with it, utilising it, enhancing it.
All of them are available on my online gallery here.
